Big AND Tall

This is quite a broad term – no pun intended. 

It’s a category name that we have toyed with using time and time again because we don’t believe it correctly describes our customers needs. That short three letter word in between big AND tall is crucial and it’s a word we find is forgotten about quite a lot in the fashion industry. 

Big and Tall are both two independent categories – but some guys need both of these boxes ticked when shopping. Yes, you can actually be big AND tall.

Big, in general, refers to a broad person. But even that is quite restrictive as broad can describe a gentleman that has broad shoulders or it can be used to describe a man that carries his weight in his stomach region, and so on. Both of these men will shop in the Big section but require two very different fits. 

Likewise, Tall refers to a persons height. When they shop in the Big and Tall section it’s often the case that their requirements aren’t met. Many of the clothing options are Big but not Tall. This can be extremely frustrating especially when, we find, Big and Tall customers are already quite limited in their options and it makes the shopping experience quite stressful and it becomes a dreaded chore. 

 

 

Many brands and stores will go for an overkill approach, offering clothing that’s big and baggy so that, “At least it won’t be too small”. We can’t fathom that approach, it’s neglectful and honestly a little insulting. 

Now in an ideal world we would all have our own tailor on hand to create beautiful once-off bespoke pieces especially for us – but let’s come back down off that cloud now. It's not impossible to get good, wardrobe staple pieces off-the-shelf but it will take a little patience. However, that’s where we come in.
